We’ll clean and wrap your new tattoo with plastic wrap. Leave plastic wrap on the tattoo for at least 1-2 hours. Wash the tattoo with a dial gold antibacterial soap after removal.

For the first 2-3 weeks your tattoo will need to be cleaned and lotioned until it is fully healed. Your body will take 2-3 days to create a scab. During that time, gently wash your tattoo with warm water and mild antibacterial soap (ex. Dial Gold). Wash away all blood and plasma with clean fingertips (do not scrub with washcloth or loofah.)

Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

After the tattoo is dry, apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare ointment (Redemption Hustle Butter or Vitalitree) or unscented lotion (ex. Lubriderm Daily Moisture or Aveeno, Eucerin etc) Check ingredients to assure that it is fragrance free.

Repeat cleaning and lotioning 3-5 times a day. (small amount needed)

Once your body has created a scab, continue to just apply lotion to avoid the scab being pulled off.

Keep your new tattoo clean and out of direct sunlight. Do not submerge in water. This includes bathtubs and hot tubs, as well as swimming in pools, lakes, and oceans.

As your tattoo heals, it will begin to peel like sunburn. Do not scratch or pick at it, that can pull pigment out and cause patchiness or scarring.

Once healed, keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight and apply sunblock to prevent fading.

  • Tegaderm 3M brand

(Or other transparent dressings such as Saniderm or Recovery Derm)

If you have an allergy to medical grade adhesive or have sensitive skin please heal your tattoo with standard aftercare.

Tegaderm bonds to the skin with medical grade adhesive. It protects against dirt and germs, while also protecting from friction and other irritations that might interfere with the healing process.

Leave your Tegaderm on for 4-7 days. It is water resistant so you can shower with it  but do not submerge it and keep soaps or body products away from it.

It is normal for the Tegaderm to fill with plasma tinted by the color of the inks that were used. Your body will safely reabsorb most of this liquid. Make sure nothing gets stuck underneath the bandage. If fluid starts to leak, a foreign substance gets trapped under it, or there are any signs of irritation, carefully remove the bandage and wash your tattoo. Depending on the day, new Tegaderm can be reapplied if a leak occurs but it must be done right away.

Carefully remove Tegaderm after or during a warm shower. Slowly pull it away from your skin like a command strip. Stretching it parallel to your skin. Do not rip off like a bandaid.

After bandage removal, begin standard aftercare.

If any irritation occurs remove immediately and continue standard aftercare.
